In these times, Chiefs and Sheriffs can ill afford for their agency not to have at least the basic capabilities of Crime Scene Processing and properly
secured Evidence Storage areas. There is also a growing need for Basic Forensic training for Patrol Officers and First Responders. Basic Forensic knowledge should not
be limited to specific units or detectives. Patrol Officers and First Responders are often the first to arrive on a potential crime scene. It is essential that Officers
or First Responders understand Basic Forensic procedures so they are better equipped to secure a scene and ensure that valuable evidence is not compromised.
"Wherever he steps, whatever he touches, whatever he leaves, even
unconsciously, will serve as silent witness against him. Not only his fingerprints or his footprints, but his hair, the fiber from his clothes, the glass he breaks,
the tool marks he leaves, the paint he scratches, the blood or semen he deposits or collects - All of these and more bear mute witness against him. This evidence that
does not forget, it is not confused by the excitement of the moment. It is not absent because human witnesses are. It can not perjure itself, it can not be wholly absent.
Only its interpretation can error, only human failure to find it, study it and understand it can diminish its value."
(Harris vs. United States, 331 U. S. 145, 1947)
The public has been educated through many CSI television shows and special Forensic programs. As a result, they expect there to be latent fingerprints, DNA or some other
type of scientific evidence that identifies the suspect. Many juries now ask "where was the forensics?"
Forensic training is available for Law Enforcement, Fire Personnel, First Responders, Military Agencies, Colleges and Universities. Subjects would include, but not
limited to, DNA Evidence, Fingerprint Processing, Sexual Assault Investigations, Creating Effective Forensic Units, Basic and Advanced Forensic Procedures. Courses can
be designed to fit the individual agencies needs or requirements. For a brief description of Forensic courses available please see the "Available Courses" page.
